Hey, did you know Sex and the City opens today? I mean how could you know, it's not like there hasn't been SATC stuff plastered EVERYWHERE on the internets.
Sorry, I jest.
And without further ado, I bring you a sampling of everything currently being written about SATC:
Reviews. While perusing the SATC movie reviews on Metacritic (one of the best websites out there, btw), I noticed for the first time ever that most professional movie critics are MALE. Which means SATC has been getting mostly so-so reviews. I haven't really read many of them, for fear of having something spoiled, but the gist I'm getting from them all is SATC the movie is more about style than substance, which I'm sure is fine for those of us who are big fans. Anywho, a sampling:
- The AP's Christy Lemire thinks it will satisfy the fans, but admits she found the movie a little looong. She gives it 2.5 stars out of 4, which is a pretty good rating from her.
- Roger Ebert admits off the bat that he's not the one who should be reviewing the movie, and then proceeds to pan it.
- Mick LaSalle at the SanFran Chron, on the other hand, raves about it, calling it the best movie about women so far this year.
- Metacritic's got an aggregate of most of the published reviews so far, and SATC's score has been fluctuating in the high 60s today. That's pretty good -- good enough for the green rating, which is hard for flicks to obtain with such critical critics.
Movie/show sites. There's plenty out there to whet your appetite before your movie time rolls around. Movie sites have gotten so fancy these days!
- The official Sex and the City movie website. There's lots of pink glittery things, and of course a bit of NY skyline. The coolest features (and I can't provide direct links here because it's all done with non-linkable Flash; you'll have to find them on the site yourself) are a "match your man" quiz (The MB is Harry, which is SO true) and a sneak peek at the desktop of Carrie's computer.
- Sex and the City Movie Blog. Maintained by some dude named Cosmo Guy. He appears to be following EVERYTHING about the movie and its premiers, so if you're into that level of obssession ...
- HBO's Sex and the City page. It's got the episode guide if you ever need it and some fantastic other features on stuff featured in the series.
Other sites. This is where it started to go a bit overboard. Everyone wants to do their own tribute to SATC guilty, I know so there's plenty out there to digest.
- The Budget Fashionista. She's been doing a weeklong tribute to the fashion of SATC. Polls on what you think, tips on how to dress like the gals and other SATC fashion trends.
- Apartment Therapy. They're working on pulling together their own list of links on how to make your own pad SATC-worthy. You may have to keep checking back there for updates.
- The Defamer. The Defamer has the scoop on what REALLY happened at the NY premier.
- The AP has a viewer guide. Pshaw. Like we need a viewer guide.
I'll try to update this post as I find new, interesting links. Unless I just get overwhelmed by the sheer force of it all. Feel free to suggest some of your own links.
UPDATE w/links
- Our favorite writer Jen dishes on her feelings toward Sex and the City.
- My favorite gossip blogger, Trent Vargas, assures SATC fans that we will love the movie.

There's a link to a site that tells you what the girls are wearing in every episode.
I wouldn't bother reading a review about that movie written by a guy. I also wouldn't bother seeing the movie, for the same reason.
I just bought my tickets!
I hate to be this person, but it's Sex AND the City, not In. I'm looking forward to seeing it, though! (Although by the looks of Mickey's comment above, I'll be seeing it alone. Unless you want to come with!)
Courtney: Thank you so much for pointing that out. I sometimes just completely stop paying attention to what I'm writing.
P.S. I'm going to the 10ish showing tonight at the downtown theater -- with or without the Modern Beau. You're welcome to join me.
I just realized how many times it says "Sex IN the City" on this blog. To all my readers, I apologize for the incompetency.
