Thanks for all of your comments on Friday's post, and a big thank you to Noelle who totally placed that quote for me as being from Six Feet Under (that had been driving me crazy for a long time).
My cousin made it through surgery successfully. The doctor thinks she got all the tumor, but the tumor did turn out to be malignant. That means a future of chemo and radiation for my cousin.
His spirits apparently are good. His dad reported a day after the surgery that he was "acting like a 15-year-old boy," which for once he was relieved of. I have no doubt my cousin will be a trooper through all this, I just hope the rest of our family can have the same kind of attitude.

Now for an update on my life, I suppose. Life is good. I'm plugging away through my busy season and doing a little bit better of managing it than I did last year. (The busy season is still young, though.) I was a little better prepared for it this year, so I haven't had as many problems crop up, which is good. I'm also going into work later because there's hardly ever a chance of me leaving work early. That's helped me have a little more personal time in the morning. I run errands, I read e-mails and I'm even beginning to read blogs again. Woot!
The Modern Fella is good at keeping me balanced in what little time we get to spend together (his teaching schedule and my work schedule greatly conflict). Our ideas of down time seem to go well together -- sit on the couch and watch football (and scream at our fantasy teams) or an episode (or two or three) of How I Met Your Mother or going for a bike ride around the 'hood. I'd venture to say I'm even crazier about him now AND he's passed the parentals/best friend test, so that's always a big bonus.
The one thing I'm not doing well is keeping an eye on my eating habits. This time last year I was a strict calorie counter, and I actually managed to lose weight while being so busy. This year I've been succumbing to eating while stressed out more and more. I'm not planning on another triathlon until probably the spring, when I'll have a little more time to stick to a regimented training schedule, so in the mean time I'm trying to force myself to train for some mythical tri in my head. Because I'd rather be able to eat what I want than have to go back to strict calorie counting day in and day out.
I guess that's everything that's going on. Like I said, I'm working to get caught up on all of your blogs, but in the mean time, tell me what you've been up to!

I'm glad I could help you with the mystery quote. Maybe I should start a website as a service to people who need to answer the question, "where'd I hear that?"
I hope things stay on course for you!
Hmm. Mostly work and trying not to hate work. But the trying not to hate work just seems like more work, so... yeah. It's a tough line.
Eh, not much, really. Work, read, sleep. It's about all I do.
Glad to hear things are under control with the busy season. If I make it back to town soon, I want to meet the new Modern Fella!
Ever since you stopped blogging so much, I feel like I'm losing touch with my inner Modern Gal.
Good to see you blogging again! Glad to hear things are good and you're keeping busy. I mean, Chicago is lovely in winter :) We're waiting for you!
Thinking good thoughts for your cousin.
Glad to hear you and the Fella are having fun.
