It's interview week here at The Modern Gal, where I answer all the questions y'all left for me back at this post and any other questions you decide to throw my way this week because. There are some awesome questions and I spent a lot of time on the drive down to Florida trying to figure out how I was going to answer some of them, and I'm still not sure on a few of them.
Anyway, because I've been eating so well while I've been on vacation -- scallops and shrimp at this place, a grouper sandwich at this place and a shepherd's pie at this place -- I've got food on the brain, so I figured I'd take the food questions first (and really, what modern gal doesn't like to think about food?)
Modern Angie E. asked:
I'm an avid reader of all things food-related in the paper. in wednesday's LIFE section of the Tennessean, they always do an interview with a local chef; one question always on there is one i want you to answer - what would you choose for your final meal?
That was an easy one, sorta. Remember this post? Yes, my number one food love is and will always be pizza. I could eat pizza three times a day, seven days a week and not tire of it. But, I suppose if I was choosing my final meal, I'd have to specify what kind of pizza I'd want, and here's where it gets a bit trickier because I love so many different kinds of pizza.
I don't know that I can pinpoint one particular kind as my favorite. I love a good barbecue pizza (chicken or even pork), Greek pizza, ham and pineapple, pesto -- it's hard to pick. I guess if it was my last meal and I didn't have any reason to worry about eating properly and getting enough veggies in I'd just go straight up meat-lovers. I think deep down all people secretly crave the meat-lovers pizza but fight it because there's nothing cool or cosmopolitan or healthy about loving the meat-lovers pizza. But if I'm eating my last meal, I say screw it (but I will take some of those pineapples on the side, I think).
Modern Em asked:
What is your favorite thing to order at Soccer Taco?
Soccer Taco is one of our favorite cheap Mexican restaurants in Knoxville, and my answer is the same there as at any Mexican restaurant: the biggest margarita on the menu. Oh, we're talking about food? Then the steak/chicken/shrimp combo fajitas with corn tortillas (in Soccer Taco's case, the Home Run Fajitas), and I think fajitas are best enjoyed when split with a friend. But I'll never share my margarita.

I'm jealous of your shepherd's pie! I love shepherd's pie.
excellent. i still don't think i quote know what i would choose as my last meal.
I would like to know why the Mexican place is called "Soccer Taco".
NPW: I'm not sure, but isn't it fun to say? Soccer Taco, Soccer Taco, Soccer Taco.
I still haven't been to Soccer Taco. It's on my list of things to do before I leave Knoxville. And I could also eat pizza for every meal so long as the toppings were changed up.
NPW: My guess is it's because the owners are super-obsessed with soccer. It's always on the TV when I'm there, even at times I'm convinced there's no soccer being played anywhere in the world. Of course that begs the question, why not Futbol Taco? But I think Courtney answered that one.
MMMMM....BBQ Pizza!
I echo MG...I think it's called Soccer Taco because it's a Sports Bar (highlighting soccer) serving Mexican food. It is super fun!
I think it's funny that Soccer Taco has Home Run Fajitas. Even I know that's there's no home run in soccer.
