There was a dive bar I frequented when I lived in Chattanooga, Tenn., that had an extensive menu of food served on a stick. The menu had other things like club sandwiches and mozzarella sticks, but whenever you tried to order those things, they were always unavailable. What was available? Chicken on a stick.
In my recent absence I missed the fact that March 28 was 'National Something on a Stick Day.'** Hungry Girl got to work in the kitchen and came up with several stick-stuffed recipes: chicken on a stick, pizza on a stick and a pig in a blanket on a stick.
**Really, I don't know who is responsible for declaring these things. Is there a commission somewhere that churns through the calendar, deciding that it's national whatever-whatever day? If that's the case, I'm hoping for a National Modern Gal Day.
