The Modern Beau doesn't want you to know that he's one of those people who run in marathons. But after completing his first this weekend he's already talking about which one he's going to do next. He obviously has already forgotten how much pain he was in at this moment:
Because he would kill me for posting his actual photo and because my new computer doesn't yet have Photoshop, you'll have to settle for this ghostlike version of the MB. Or maybe he really is a ghost, and I'm just making up his presence?
The clock says 4:27, but because he started in the third wave of runners, his real time was actually 4:11 ... on his first marathon. Now, I've never run in a marathon nor do I have any desire to run in a marathon, but I gather that's pretty good.
While all those crazy ambitious people schlepped their way through the race route, Modern Roxy and I had a grand time running from one side of the race course to the other, ready for the MB every five or so miles he ran and cheering for everyone else that went by. It was a lot of fun and probably helped because I brought with me a cowbell obtained from a World Cup Skiing event, where cowbells are the noisemaker of choice. As you can imagine, my cowbell prompted a lot of this from the delirious happy runners:

Modern Beau has to be thankfully he's not the man in the foreground with the red tshirt! Otherwise I very much doubt he'd run a 4:11!
Well done him though - great time.
When signing up for his next race, he should remember that marathon running makes him blurry.
My friend does marathons and he's the same way, once one is done, he's ready for the next. And I love that line about cowbell, it's so true.
