Because I have to work the day before and two days after Thanksgiving, this will be the first time EVAH that I don't get to make the trip to Memphis to celebrate my favorite holiday with my extended family. I'm not going to lie, I'm extremely bummed about it.
My parents, being the wonderful souls they are, are making the trip to spend the holiday with me, which definitely makes the whole Thanksgiving-away-from-Memphis thing about 90% better.
And even though my parents are extremely laid back and only care that we 1. get to have the traditional Thanksgiving Day fixings, 2. Get to watch some football and 3. Go shopping the day after Thanksgiving (ok that one's just for my mom and I), I have this drive to want to make everything about the holiday perfect. There's nothing like the pressure of hosting your first holiday.
My mom and I have already planned out who's cooking what, so I don't have to worry about that until it comes time to do the grocery shopping. Without that to worry about, I had to do something.
So, I did this:Thanksgiving is still two weeks away? Eh, you can never set the table too early. It's not like I ever eat at it anyway.

I totally love that you've already set the table. It gives you something pretty to look at and it's a reminder that a fun holiday is coming up!
I hosted my first ever thanksgiving last year in my tiny apartment. my parents and brother came from michigan for it, and my mom and i cooked in my closet of a kitchen. i dont even have a full size oven but we made a mean turkey.
you'll have a blast!
Nice! I like the idea of having a table set all the time. It's prettier than a bare table. (My table is used as a burial ground for junk mail, so that's not happening in my apartment anytime soon.)
That's beautiful!
#1 reason I chose not to pursue a career in your chosen field, despite my education: the schedule. Working the day after Thanksgiving should be illegal.
As for your plans: You are aware that the day after T'giving is Buy Nothing Day, right? Get on the wagon and bring your mom.
