I haven't shared a lot about what's been going on in my life aside from the quest for weight loss because really there hasn't been anything too terribly about that I can speak of in blogland.
I've been busy at work which means the days there go by quickly but the drawback is that I've been working longer hours and I'm starting to work a lot of weekends. In fact, this past Sunday was the last one I'll have off until at least November, possibly December.
I got to take what I suspect will be my final mini-vacation until Christmastime, visiting with some friends at Lake Martin in Alabama. It was the third annual such lake weekend. I would love to share photos with you, but unfortunately I forgot my camera. We toned down the drunkeness a bit, but still had fun lounging, taking boat rides and just catching up. I even managed to do my two longest 5K training runs to date, thanks to some peer pressure from friends who are better runners than I. It was the perfect way to end summer.
The Modern Beau and I have been enjoying life in a normal, non-long-distance, non-cohabitational relationship. He's had the whole past month off killing time between the end of the bar exam and the beginning of his new job, which started today. He's turned into a great house-husband (his description, not mine) in the mean time. He loves to cook, and I tend to come out on the sweet end of that deal.
The Modern Dog is kind of pissed about seeing the doggie hotel three times in the past month, even though I keep trying to convince her that's how the cool cats roll. I even took her to the Club Med of doggie hotels, but she didn't seem impressed. She's been mostly giving me the silent treatment. She'll get over it
So that's that. Things are clicking along rather comfortably and that's a great change from what life was like no less than three months ago. I'm sure it won't last, and I don't know that I want it to forever, but I'm going to milk the feeling for as long as I can.

I love to hear about when a good co-habitation works out. Also, glad that you're progressing with the running.
Boring isn't all that bad! Enjoy it while you can, because it tends to be less stressful when life is boring.
Busy work schedule = bleck. Sorry about that. Want to blow off some steam and join us for drinks at First Friday this week?
I have a feeling the one peer pressuring you was the same one who helped get me through my 10K....she's a great running buddy to have!
