The New York Times' wellness blog has a post from yesterday about the 11 best foods you aren't eating.
From what I can gather from the list, a lot of these foods are starting to pop up more and more in healthy-eating recipes. Canned pumpkin is a Hungry Girl recipe staple and I've seen several of you post recipes which called for either beets or Swiss chard.
I've already got the market on blueberries, cinnamon and pom juice cornered. Blueberries go with nearly everything, cinnamon goes on my sweet potatoes and toast and pom juice is just so tasty. I'm going to try to work in some of these other foods into my diet in the coming months too.

i LOVE beets
i was going to say exactly what alexa said: i LOVE beets. love them. and swiss chard. and cabbage.
i have been meaning to try some canned pumpkin too.
Beets are my least favorite food. So much so that I don't classify them as a food.
Frozen blueberries with a little milk and splenda is delicious though.
That article made me feel smart, because I eat about half of those foods on a regular basis. Except beets, because the deer saw to it that I had none. (sigh.)
I ate cinnamon, pom juice, and blueberries today. The rest of them never hit my list. Oops. Better get grocery shopping.
Once beets hit our CSA bag, we'll be eating them every week between now and November. I'd only ever had canned beets before last year. Fresh ones are awesome.
Alexa: I've been scared to try them, but seeing all the props they're getting here is compelling me to try them.
Em: If you need some canned pumpkin recipes, let me know. My Hungry Girl cookbook has lots of them.
KG: I've been scared of beets and I prefer my blueberries on ice cream.
Noelle: When I posted it, you were the first person I thought of as to whom the list wouldn't apply to.
Playful Professional: Sounds like we have similar tastes.
Allie: If you have any beet recipes, I'm interested in trying them.
Thanks for the list. I really enjoy all of these foods, especially beets...and cabbage...and chard....and blueberries. But I will take not to try and incorporate them into more of the stuff I make.
Thanks!
I like blueberries and just maybe I will eat more pumpkin
Why wasn't spinach on there??
I just can't eat beets. I've had them before and I just don't like it. But I do like frozen blueberries. I am also surprised spinach isn't on there.
De-lurking, finally. Of course it would be food that would get me.
I love everything on this list except prunes and sardines. Although some of these things don't often appear in my kitchen. I'll work on that.
I made a tumeric-heavy dinner just last night.
