By request from Angie, one of my favorite modern gals, I present you The Modern Gal's favorite healthy(ish) snacks either by design or in moderation. This is by no means an end-all, be-all list of good snacks, just what I enjoy in my never-ending quest to get healthy.
I call Fiber One bars my candy bars, because they're the closest thing to a candy bar that I allow myself to touch. They were also the midday snack I kept in my pocket while skiing, though I can tell you they're not as good when chilled.
Fiber is not only good for digestive health and helping prevent certain kinds of cancer, but it's also good for weight loss (which is why Weight Watchers touts fiber-hearty diets). Of course, the best sources of fiber are fruits and veggies, which is why I try to regularly eat apples, oranges and raw veggies for snacks. I like to buy veggie trays from the grocery store and store the carrot sticks, cauliflower and broccoli in plastic baggies to be eaten later with some light ranch veggie dip.
A handful of Rold Gold's Honey Wheat braided twists is so yummy and won't do much damage to your calorie intake for the day. These little wheat pretzels provide a good kick of sweet and salty.
I've also gotten really attached to Pom salsa. I prepare a large tub of it at the beginning of the week and keep it on hand for several days. Pomegranates have been called a miracle fruit for it's cancer-fighting tendencies, Vitamin C and antioxidants. Plus its tangy taste is so satisfying.
As a general rule of thumb, I can't stand yogurt. But Yoplait's light Thick & Creamy style yogurt is not to be missed. Especially in my favorite flavor of Key Lime Pie, which does very much take like the filling of my mother's significantly unhealthy key lime pie.
I've flipped about them before, but I absolutely love Sun Chips' flavored varieties, especially in cinnamon. But, you have to be careful as Sun Chips aren't as healthy as you may think, so stick to the 100-calorie pack varieties.
I've been eating Kashi puffs for breakfast for quite some time, but about a year ago, I made a wonderful discovery in Kashi's cookies. I'm quite the cookie monster, so Kashi's oatmeal dark chocolate cookie was the answer to my cookie cravings.
Speaking of dark chocolate, I've read plenty of articles which say dark chocolate (in moderation) is good for you, thanks again to antioxidants and such. When I need a chocolate fix, I turn to Dove's dark chocolate minatures. They're so decadant and the red wrappers come with these little inspiring messages inside. Sweet.

I love the Kashi snacks! The cookies are good and I also like the crackers, the margharita flavor, mmmmm, good!
I like to eat sugar-free chocolate pudding with light whipped topping on it. It's only two Weight Watchers points! Most of the time it fills my cravings for ice cream sundaes, cupackes and cookies. I said MOST of the time.
i just now got along to reading this post - superb! i loved it! i love fiber one bars, and kellogs 90calorie bars that come in orange and raspberry flavor...string cheese is another favorite :)
I also heart the Fiber One bars.
Ooooo, pudding. Also a good treat. I just need to find something that will substitute for brownies.
I have also discovered I like dipping my raw veggies in hummus, which is probably a better option than the lite ranch dip.
