Holy footballs, Batman, I was so wrapped up in the fact that Ohio State lost this weekend that I totally missed this gem:
(Yes, it's 5 minutes long, but the good stuff is in the second half. Also note a fantastic hook-and-ladder play at the beginning.)
Seems Wyoming coach Joe Glenn guaranteed a win over the Utah Utes during a student luncheon last week. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham was so P.O.ed that he and his team gave a big F.U. to the Cowboys by running up the score to 43-0 and then executing an onside kick. In the third quarter.
An onside kick is something you do when you're behind by a score or two with less than two minutes left and desperately need the ball back in your hands. It is extremely risky because if it fails, you've given your opponent good field position, but it is rewarding if done properly. It is not, I repeat, NOT something you do when you're ahead 43-0 in the third.
Glenn was of course P.O.ed about the onside kick and gave a big F.U. one-finger salute back to the Utah bench.
Whittingham said it was all about accountability. Glenn claimed amnesia immediately following the game, but apologized today.
Once again, for emphasis:
